About Us

The Christian Initiation of Adults Office of the Archdiocese of Malta is coordinated by the Vicariate for Evangelisation. The small team welcomes and accompanies people from all backgrounds who are on a journey to becoming Catholic or to be confirmed in the Catholic faith. From the period of Evangelisation, to the Catechumenate, to the intense period of Purification and Enlightenment, to post-baptismal Mystagogy, those seeking the sacraments of initiation are transformed in a radical experience of “becoming church” that is liturgical, catechetical and profoundly communal. The year-long experience of learning about the story of salvation, as revealed in the Scriptures, and how this continues to be received in Tradition, is a rich experience of healing, friendship and celebration.

His Grace, Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna, personally welcomes all the Elect and administers the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist at every Easter Vigil at the St. John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta.
