The RCIA stands for ‘Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. This is a journey of formation in the Catholic Faith and life.  This journey was the way that people became Christians in the early Church, which has been reintroduced as the formal way to become a member of the Catholic Church.

The initiation of new candidates is a gradual process which begins from after the celebration of Easter and concludes on the Easter Vigil of the following year, where the Candidates are welcomed formally into the Church through the reception of the Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation.  This is a lengthy process because becoming a Catholic is an adventurous journey and a serious decision which needs time, preparation, and reflection.
